Things you should consider before shopping online
You can reduce the risk of a wrong purchase decision, by considering the following guidelines:
- Consider first whether you really need the good. Most homes are full of items, which are bought during a moody and imprudent phase of the buyer and are never used after their purchase.
- Consider what functions the product should have. In most cases, you do not really need all available functions of the product. Do not let advertisement seduce you or the dealer’s decision overrule your decision. Make your own choice!
- Think over the quality requirements of the product. Prove whether the longevity of the product is of importance to you or not. Acquire information of the product through independent institutions and journals, which test and examine products.
- Consider the available service possibilities for the product. Are local and/or regional maintenance and repair services and/or pick-up services offered? For many technical devices, these circumstances may be of great importance and may affect subsequent costs.
- Compare prices! Price comparisons should cover different products of the same category as well as different online shops. The purchase of an apparently lower price product can turn into an expensive deal after all consequential costs are considered, such as fees, longevity, and consumption costs.
- Be realistic about you financial situation! Ask yourself, if you are in the position to afford the purchase of the product and whether the purchase is worthwhile to take out a loan.
- Distrust unusual attractive offers if these do not appear reasonable to you. There might be a problem with it.
